ESSAY 5
When you began this semester you wrote an in-class diagnostic essay about why someone should or shouldn’t come to The College of New Jersey. Now that you’re at the end of the semester, I’d like you to re-visit that topic.
Write a three-page, typewritten paper outside of class in which you argue for or against The College of New Jersey as a school. Is it a good place to be? In the original diagnostic essay, I asked you to write a letter to someone you actually knew and make your argument to that person. You may do the same for this paper, or you may choose to write for a more general audience (as if you were addressing this year’s graduating class at your high school, for example).
Keep in mind that this paper is your culminating experience in Rhetoric I. Use everything you've learned about argument and about writing to write this paper. If you write exactly what you wrote at the beginning of the semester, I'll be very disappointed. I'm hoping you've learned a lot about writing and argument this semester and that you'll look back at what you wrote for your diagnostic essay and think how much better you can do it now.
The paper will be due during Finals Week, but we will not meet formally as a class.
