Choose one of the following options:
Remember that your paper will be evaluated according to my usual grading criteria for papers. Whatever option you choose, your paper should be 3-4 typewritten pages.Option 1 Research and discuss important writing tasks that you will come across in your future jobs. Argue whether or not you believe that the writing classes one takes at a liberal arts college such as The College of New Jersey help to prepare you for the future writing tasks that your jobs will hold.
Option 2
Choose any teacher or professor that you have now or have had in the past. Observe their teaching habits and techniques as well as their personality over the course of a few classes. If you chose a teacher you had in the past, recall their teaching habits, techniques, and personality, and make a short list of points.
Compose an evaluation of the teacher. To do this, you should first outline what makes a good or bad teacher, and then argue how the teacher you chose fits into these criteria. Is the teacher a good or bad teacher? How did you determine this? Be sure to be specific and use details.
This assignment is meant to be practice for future, professional evaluations. Do not lose sight of this point. Be sure to observe and evaluate your teacher as you would a colleague. See the teacher through the eyes of a peer professional and write your paper accordingly.
Option 3
Pick a movie that is based on a book that you have read and argue which is more entertaining and worthwhile. Do not choose a book that is based on a movie. It must be a book that was made into a movie after its publication. Be sure to include your thoughts on whether the viewing and reading public's creativity is thwarted or enhanced by the rise of the film medium.
