Wife:  Viktoria Adelheid, née Princess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1885-     ) Issue: Johann Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1906-     ).  Renounced his rights of succession in Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as a result of his unequal marriage in 1932. Wife:  Feodore, née Baroness von der Horst (1907-     ) Issue: Marianne, Princess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1933-     ) Ernst-Leopold, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1935-     ) Peter, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, born on June 12, 1939, in Dresden. Sibylle, Princess Gustaf Adolf of Sweden, Duchess of Västerbotten (1907-     ) Hubertus, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1909-1943).  Died on November 26, 1943, at Mosty, Russia, killed in action in World War II. Caroline Mathilde, Frau Max Schnirring (1912-     ).  Widowed on July 7, 1944, when her husband was killed in action with the Luftwaffe at Stralsund. Friedrich-Josias, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1918-     ).  Married on January 25, 1942, in Cassel.
