Adolf Friedrich, Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1873-     ).  Nominated Duke of the United Baltic Duchy in accordance with a 1918 resolution by the General Provincial Assembly in Riga that called upon the German Emperor Wilhelm II to recognize the Baltic provinces of Latvia and Estonia as a monarchy and German protectorate.
2nd Wife: Elisabeth, widow of Duke Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, née Princess of Stolberg-Rossla (1885-     )
Issue of his first marriage:
  1. Woizlawa-Feodora, Princess Heinrich I Reuss zu Köstritz (1918-     ).  Married on September 15, 1939, at Bad Doberan.

Friedrich Franz IV, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1882-1945).  Succeeded as Grand Duke in 1897 on the death of his father, Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III.  Designated Regent of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1918 upon the death of his distant cousin, Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich VI of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.  Abdicated as both Grand Duke and Regent in November 1918.  Succeeded as de jure Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1918 upon the renunciation of the title by Duke Karl Michael, the last male of the house of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.  Died on November 17, 1945, at Flensburg.

    1. Friedrich Franz (V), Hereditary Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1910-     ).  Married unequally on June 11, 1941, at Wiligrad.  Succeeded as head of the house of Mecklenburg-Schwerin on November 17, 1945, upon the death of his father, Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV.

Paul Friedrich, Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1852-1923).  Forfeited his rights of succession as a result of his conversion to Catholicism and his marriage to a Catholic in 1881.

  1. Marie Antonia, Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1884-1944).  Died on October 26, 1944, in Bled, Yugoslavia.
  2. Borwin, Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1885-1942).  Died on November 3, 1942, at Sarszentmihaly, Hungary.
